M*O*V*E debuts weekly

New nightlife experience celebrates soul, funk, disco, boogie.

It’s been a minute since we’ve debuted any new residencies – mostly due to hired gigs & talent booking – so it’s going to be big fun on the getback!!!

We’ll be getting our Alpha Flight on for this one folks with the entire team making regular appearances: Ofield, Quadratik, Lil’ Phil, Jay Boogie and Manic. Don’t be surprised to see special guests roll through armed with vinyl and hard drives; M*O*V*E is going to be our signature party for this year.

Now, for the uninitiated, the genres we’ll be rinsing on the regular are the basis for a lot of the joints you hear today. We’re talking foundation material, y’all. More importantly, this format doesn’t get proper shine in this market so we want to bring Winnipeg in line with all the other major markets.

Here’s the math:
BUNDOWN x THE ACADEMY = M*O*V*E (soul + funk + disco + boogie – top 40 / pop)

..got M*O*V*E?

Our power to wipe feet on the dance rug might be top-secret but our ability to fill floors is simple. M*O*V*E has funk for asses to shake to and unique mix of soul, disco & boogie to help you refuel. So shake right, shimmy hard and groove at M*O*V*E. That just makes sense.

M*O*V*E > thu > may07 > theACADEMY

On a side note, we’d like to thank Broose Tulloch and the 2009 Brewno Awards for informing us of our nomination in the Club Thang – Urban/Electronic Act category. The Brewnos are dedicated to honouring local radio shows and personalities and music acts. The ceremony is tonight at The Academy. Speaking of awards, bigup DJ Fin-S, Tha Coach, D-Lo & Miss M for being nominated @ this year’s Stylus Awards. Props due also to the homies: P-Plus, Mensa, Big Jacks, Grouch, Agile, Serious & Fase!!! As for all you upcoming artists, you need to get down with this!

Bigup to the winners of the In The Zone 3 Breakdance Competition, Paranormal Pandas Crew and the Freestyle Competition, Shamik Harris!!! Props to Romeo Suban & Un1te Dance for a bumpy but successful first battle. Looking forward to next year already. Still have three big b-boy events coming up: Break The Floor in May and the weekend-long b-boy celebration in June for the Dangerous Goods‘ seven-year anniversary & Break 4 Bread‘s ten-year anniversary!!!
