When this project – helmed by Montreal’s Nick Wisdom (@nickwisdom) and Vancouver’s AstroLogical (@nateastrobeats) was first announced, the biggest question was how Illa-J would sound over production that did not come from his brother.
With Moka Only (@mokaonly) in tow – who has also recorded with Dilla (@officialjdilla1) – the four have crafted a very comfortable space for J and Moke’s bars.
Brooklyn-based label Bastard Jazz invested in this project and they’re probably glad they did with the soulful, jazzy, boom bap provided by the four notables.
Explosives is available on iTunes and is worth every penny.
