Mensa chats with Montreality

The Quebec-based blog sat down for what appears to be a blunted-stream-of-consciousness sesh with the Chiraq emcee.

Most importantly, Mensa touched on what can be expected from his Traffic debut full-length, referring to it as “anthemic” and promising a “real blend of you know, hip hop and rock & roll…and like, funk here and there.” (via montreality.com, youtube.com)

Teddy Riley, DJ Eddie F talk Big Tyme

RBMA featured the making of Heavy D & The Boyz‘ sophomore – and most successful – album as seen through the eyes of two of its most important contributors.

Definitely an insightful look at the bum-diddly-diddly-diddle-dee. (via redbullmusicacademy.com)

Toronto funk trio BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah rocked the rap world when they revealed a new joint, Gunshowers – with assistance from Elzhi, to boot – that would serve as the advance to a full album from the two acts.

They hinted at the project when they dropped Six Degrees earlier this summer featuring Danny Brown on Lex Records, which will also release the album. (via soundcloud.com/badbadnotgood)

Boogie nights

Jay Boogie set to release first mix series.

Bundown’s own Jay Boogie will be officially releasing Nights in July next week.

The mix series begins with Episode 1 and Episode 2. Ep. 1 is a little higher on the BPM scale with its dedication to four-on-the-floor, bottom-heavy, soul-by-the-pound beats, while Ep. 2 is best appreciated on long and sunny summer rides to sandy and wet destinations.

Nights in July will continue with Episode 3 and 4 and will be followed by the next installment of Quadratik’s Calculated Soul series and Ofield’s exciting electroROC project. A collaboration mix featuring Jay Boogie, Quadratik and Ofield will also be released in the near future.

Nights in July will be available for digital download right here on bundown.com on Tuesday, August 3. The zip file will include Episode 1 and 2, cover and back art and a Nights in July one-sheet.
