Rough patch kids

Bundown partners with local charity.

On Sunday, July 17, BSS will host Rough Patch‘s charity event at the Marlborough Inn.

Rough Patch is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “financially aid families who have a sick child(ren) who require constant medical attention at a medical facility that is 50 kilometres or more away from their home. A portion of proceeds also goes to help fund research for each child’s medical condition.

The fundraiser will include a Head Shaving Auction and a raffle that includes a resort and car detailing package and is being held specifically for a child named Matthew. You can read his story here.

Giving back.

Local Filipino culture magazine and event promoters to host benefit.

On September 26, 2009, the Philippines was hit hard by Typhoon Ketsana (or Ondoy).

According to CNN, it has left at least 240 people dead and has affected nearly 2 million people and forced the evacuation of 567,000. At one point, 80 percent of the capital Manila was under water after experiencing the heaviest rainfall in 40 years.

On October 3, 2009, Typhoon Parma (or Pepeng) slammed into the northern Philippines, triggering floods and landslides and destroying nearly P800 million ($16.8 million) in crops and infrastructure in the country, according to officials and radio reports. More than 300,000 people were affected and a third of those were in temporary shelters. Power and communications have yet to be restored in some areas.

To raise money for typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines through the Canadian Red Cross, FOKAL MAGAZINE and BUNDOWN SOUND SYSTEM will be joining forces for the “I ♥ PH” Typhoon Ondoy benefit on October 22, 2009 at Republic Nightclub.
