Breaking news – sorta

What’s good!

It certainly has been a hot minute since the last update. The fellas have naturally been grindin’, working on music and rinsing that fuelgoodmusic on the regular. If you follow us on Twitter or Facebook – individually or collectively – then you’re in the loop & have been keeping up with the movements.

A major focus for the team has been our weekend residency at Bar Italia. As you know, we are spinning there from Thursday to Saturday. Each night has a specific focus but the format remains the Ultimately, fuelgoodweekends is a signature residency where we showcase what we have come to be known for – that fuelgood sh!t, son.

Thursdays: Maverik One
Fridays: Quadratik
Saturdays: Bruce Lord

It is not uncommon to see variations on each night with all three regularly playing alongside each other with appearances by Premium Plus, Jay Boogie and DJ Rahdil, as well. Speaking of Rahdil, you can catch him on the Streetz 107.9 weekly boat cruise on Thursday nights, as well as at Republic on Saturday nights.

If you were wondering what’s been happening with fuelgoodradio, which aired Fridays from 12 midnight – 2 a.m., there will be a slot change within the next three weeks. The biggest challenge was the fact that everyone is always booked to play on Friday nights, which is why we were prerecording the show. With the new slot, we will all be in the studio live!

One last thing…Break4Bread/DGC 10th year anniversary is approaching! It’s going down August 18 at Sisler High School and will feature special guest judge B-Boy Ronnie (Red Bull BC One All-Stars, Supercrew), the 2-on-2 All-Styles battle as well as Maverik One providing the beats and breaks! For more info, search for the event page on Facebook.

OK, that’s a wrap for now. Keep us bookmarked, follow us on Twitter (@bunDOWN) or Facebook (bundownSOUNDSYSTEM)

Bundown returns to FM dial

20120405-222016.jpg

After nine years, Bundown Sound System will return to the FM dial tomorrow night with their new weekly mixshow, Fuel Good Radio.

Collectively, Bundown – in its current form – have never shared mics on-air but there are a handful of them who are no strangers to radio.

Lucious worked the airwaves on FLAVA 107.9, CKUW 95.9 and ENVOL 91.1.

Boogie, Lord and Pleezy also served as on-air talent on CKUW.

The entire team will rock the turns every Friday from 12 midnight – 2 a.m as well as feature live-to-airs from Bar Italia, the popular Corydon Avenue haunt which hosts their fuelGOODmusic residency on Friday and Saturday nights.

Boogie nights

Jay Boogie set to release first mix series.

Bundown’s own Jay Boogie will be officially releasing Nights in July next week.

The mix series begins with Episode 1 and Episode 2. Ep. 1 is a little higher on the BPM scale with its dedication to four-on-the-floor, bottom-heavy, soul-by-the-pound beats, while Ep. 2 is best appreciated on long and sunny summer rides to sandy and wet destinations.

Nights in July will continue with Episode 3 and 4 and will be followed by the next installment of Quadratik’s Calculated Soul series and Ofield’s exciting electroROC project. A collaboration mix featuring Jay Boogie, Quadratik and Ofield will also be released in the near future.

Nights in July will be available for digital download right here on bundown.com on Tuesday, August 3. The zip file will include Episode 1 and 2, cover and back art and a Nights in July one-sheet.

M*O*V*E debuts weekly

New nightlife experience celebrates soul, funk, disco, boogie.

It’s been a minute since we’ve debuted any new residencies – mostly due to hired gigs & talent booking – so it’s going to be big fun on the getback!!!

M*O*V*E

We’ll be getting our Alpha Flight on for this one folks with the entire team making regular appearances: Ofield, Quadratik, Lil’ Phil, Jay Boogie and Manic. Don’t be surprised to see special guests roll through armed with vinyl and hard drives; M*O*V*E is going to be our signature party for this year.

Now, for the uninitiated, the genres we’ll be rinsing on the regular are the basis for a lot of the joints you hear today. We’re talking foundation material, y’all. More importantly, this format doesn’t get proper shine in this market so we want to bring Winnipeg in line with all the other major markets.

Here’s the math:
BUNDOWN x THE ACADEMY = M*O*V*E (soul + funk + disco + boogie – top 40 / pop)
